About This Treatment

What is Sport Massage?

Sport massage is a performance-oriented treatment built for anyone who trains, competes or simply stays active. Using firmer, targeted techniques and assisted stretching, your therapist works into the muscle groups most stressed by your routine — legs, calves, shoulders and back — to ease fatigue, release trigger points and restore range of motion. Whether you're preparing for an event, recovering from one, or just keeping up with regular training, this treatment is built around how your body actually moves.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How is sport massage different from deep tissue massage?
Sport massage borrows deep tissue techniques but is applied with a specific goal — preparing muscles for activity or aiding recovery from it. It often includes assisted stretching and targets areas stressed by a particular sport or training routine, rather than general full-body relaxation.
Should I get a sport massage before or after a workout?
Both are effective for different reasons. Before activity, a lighter session increases blood flow and range of motion. After activity, a firmer session helps clear muscle tension and speed up recovery. Tell your therapist your training schedule and they will adjust accordingly.
Is sport massage only for athletes?
No. It benefits anyone who trains regularly — gym-goers, runners, cyclists, footballers and weekend sports players — as well as anyone dealing with muscle tightness from repetitive movement or overuse.
Will sport massage be painful?
Pressure is adjusted to you. Sport massage is firmer than a relaxation massage and some areas of tightness may feel tender as they release, but it should never be sharply painful — let your therapist know if pressure needs adjusting.
How often should I get a sport massage?
For regular training, every 2–4 weeks helps maintain mobility and manage muscle tightness before it builds up. Ahead of a race or competition, a session a few days before allows muscles to be primed without post-massage soreness affecting performance.
